Big, Beautiful Breakfast Burrito

August 28, 2010

I’m one of those people who loves breakfast foods for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I can also eat “dinner” foods for breakfast. I am non-discriminatory in that way because my stomach is an equal-opportunity eater. Maybe I’m like this because my mom used to cook us breakfast for dinner sometimes, or because my best friend, Tiffany, used to always order cheeseburgers when we went to breakfast with her family. Regardless, I especially love breakfast burritos and they can be a great choice for veggie eaters. Below are a few of my favorite haunts for breakfast burritos.

Del Taco – If you missed my post about Del Taco I’m so glad you’re reading this one because my way of ordering a breakfast burrito at Del Taco shouldn’t be missed. I’ve turned on lots of friends to this burrito and so far I’ve had 100% satisfaction. Here’s what you order “Egg & Cheese burrito (not “breakfast” because that one is tiny), add beans and secret sauce and lettuce and tomato.” You’ll be so glad you did!

Farmer Boys – It must be the big chunks of roasted potatoes, onions and peppers that sets this burrito apart from the others. Yu-uh-ummy!

Alberto’s – For a good old-fashioned breakfast burrito you can’t beat an egg, potato, bean, and cheese burrito with red sauce from Alberto’s. Nothing fancy but sometimes that’s all we want. Right?

Taco Express – I have family in Colorado Springs and whenever we go for a visit I ALWAYS get a breakfast burrito from this place sometime within the first 24 hours. It’s a little place with drive thru windows on both sides of the building plus a walk up window. The workers are super friendly, and the breakfast burrito with green sauce is truly spectacular. The tortillas are always so fresh and they load it up with so much cheese that you get some in every bite. And the best part is that the breakfast burrito is available 24 hours a day!

Gotta mention the breakfast burrito at the “The Filling Station” in oldtown Orange. Really good and super fresh – they have veggie sausage as an add-on if you want it.

Nice. I love a breakky burrito too. Another great place to try is Nick’s in Long Beach. They only have 2 locations (and the 2nd one is only a year old) but people will line up for their scrumptious breakfast burrito’s.

    So good. So, so good.

Another great place to stop by for killer breakfast burritos is Choice Burger in Brea on Brea Blvd. It is fully loaded. The salsas there are made daily and are super delicious!

Two here that everyone should try:

Billy Boys in Orange: Salsa tops this one off perfectly. My favorite.

Troy’s in Orange: I think this burrito is probably better than Billy Boys’, but the salsa isn’t as good as Billy Boys.

I can’t believe Isaac put the Filling Station breakfast burrito in here. Totally dry and not as good as any of the other ones on this list.
