The Old Spaghetti Factory
Mmm-mmm-mmm-Mizithra! I found out tonight that The Old Spaghetti Factory is the nation’s largest importer of Mizithra cheese. Thank goodness for that because I simply cannot get enough of it. It is so salty and flavorful with such a distinctive taste.
I always get the spaghetti with mizithra and browned butter. Sometimes I’ll go halfsies with the mushroom marinara sauce, but usually I just want all mizithra. I noticed on the menu tonight that they now offer mizithra pasta with garlic, mushrooms, and bacon (hold the bacon and it might be yummy).
This is definitely a veggie meal to get full on since you also receive milk or tea (I like to get chocolate milk), warm sourdough bread with garlic butter, a green salad or minestrone soup (try the pesto ranch – it’s delicious!), and of course a little scoop of spumoni ice cream (an old-fashioned combo of chocolate, cherry, and pistachio). All that for $9.95. The mizithra alone is worth $9.95!
If you’re trying to cut down on carbs then you could get the steamed broccoli with browned butter and garlic instead of pasta (but you wouldn’t be cutting down on fat…). And if you’re gluten-sensitive you can order any of the sauces on gluten-free pasta!
I have to revisit the Old Spaghetti Factory for sure! Yum!
